My Go-To Cleaning Tool! What's Yours?

I stumbled across my favorite cleaning tool because I have a friend whose recommendations I trust completely.

She’s frugal (but not cheap), researches everything for hours (or days!), and likes to do things right the first time. And bonus — she’s not a gatekeeper. When she finds something that actually works, she shares it. Honestly, everyone needs a friend like this.

Several years ago, she told me I needed to try an e-cloth. She even suggested skipping the more expensive Norwex cloths and going with the more affordable option instead.

I was skeptical. Cleaning with just water and limiting chemicals? It sounded a little too good to be true.

But she’d done the research, so I gave it a shot — and I was converted almost immediately.

What I Use e-cloth for the Most

These cloths aren’t something I pull out occasionally — they’re part of my everyday cleaning routine. Here’s what I use them for the most:

• Countertops Kitchen and bathroom counters get wiped down constantly, and most of the time I’m just using water.

• Mirrors The glass cloth is my favorite. No streaks, no spray, no frustration.

• Windows Interior windows and glass doors come out crystal clear.

• Electronic screens Phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs — e-cloth is gentle enough to clean screens without leaving streaks or scratches.

• Mopping Especially on days when we’re all inside, I love using e-cloth for both quick floor cleanups and heavier mopping jobs.(Confession: I do sometimes use a floor cleaner with them — mostly because I like the smell.)

Even My College Son Uses Them

for people during the summers, and he uses e-cloth glass cloths to finish his jobs.

He gets compliments from customers all the time because their windows are so crystal clear. He attributes it to finishing the job with the e-cloth — which was a pretty good confirmation that this isn’t just a “me thing.”

Let’s Be Honest: I Still Use Chemicals Sometimes

As much as I love e-cloth, I’m not trying to pretend it replaces everything.

I absolutely still use chemicals on the toilet. 😄Some things just feel like they deserve disinfectant.

For me, this isn’t about being all-or-nothing. It’s about reducing chemicals where it makes sense and using simpler tools for everyday cleaning.

A Few Care Tips (So They Stay Working Longer)

If you use e-cloth, a few simple rules matter:

• Don’t use bleach on them

• Skip fabric softener

• Avoid washing or drying with high-lint fabrics like towels

• Air dry or tumble dry on low heat

Following these keeps the microfiber working the way it’s supposed to.
