It’s one of the busiest—and most festive—weekends of the season here in the MOT area and beyond! Whether you’re hunting for holiday gifts, looking for small-town charm, or planning some family fun, there’s something happening around every corner.

🎄 Historic New Castle Holiday Market

Dec 5–7 | Shaw Alley, Historic New Castle 


Step into one of Delaware’s most charming historic districts for a weekend-long holiday market tucked right into Shaw Alley. Browse local artisans, pick up unique handmade gifts, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of Old New Castle dressed up for the season. With festive lights, warm drinks, and strolling-friendly streets, it’s a picture-perfect way to kick off your December.

Hours: • Friday: 4–8 PM • Saturday: 10 AM–2 PM • Sunday: 12–4 PM



🎁 Christmas in Odessa

Saturday, Dec 6 | 10 AM–5 PM | Historic Odessa 


This beloved annual event transforms Odessa into a classic holiday village. Tour historic homes, shop local vendors, enjoy seasonal décor, and take in one of Delaware’s most charming small-town celebrations.



🎅 Peoples Plaza Christmas Celebration

Saturday, Dec 6 | 10 AM–4 PM | Peoples Plaza, Newark 


An annual favorite! Santa arrives by fire truck at 10 AM, kicking off a full day of photos, puppet shows, carriage rides, kids’ activities, live music, and giveaways. Entry is free (some activities are cash-only).



🍬 Candy Cane Lane Holiday Shopping Extravaganza

Saturday, Dec 6 | 10 AM–3 PM | Cape Henlopen High School 


With 70+ local vendors, Candy Cane Lane is the largest holiday shopping event at the beach. Enjoy door prizes, candy cane hunts with chances to win shopping sprees, food trucks, and endless unique gifts. Entry: $2 (supports families in the Cape school district)



🎉 Middletown Holiday Spectacular Parade

Saturday, Dec 6 | 10 AM–1 PM | Main Street, Middletown 


Floats, marching bands, dancers, local groups, and tons of holiday spirit fill Main Street for Middletown’s biggest parade of the season. Grab a spot early—it’s always a crowd favorite!



💗 Pretty in Pink: Women-Owned Business Holiday Market

Saturday, Dec 6 | 11 AM–2 PM | Links at St. Anne’s, Middletown 


Shop from 40+ women-owned businesses offering handmade gifts, beauty products, food items, fashion, décor, and more. Enjoy complimentary bites, hot cocoa, curated gift bags, and a festive, empowering atmosphere. Tickets: $25 (Use code FB10 to save $10)



❄️ MOT 2025 Winter Fest

Saturday, Dec 6 | 12–4 PM | MOT Senior Center 


A community favorite featuring vendors, crafts, food, entertainment, and holiday fun—all supporting the MOT Senior Center. Great for families, shoppers, and anyone who loves a hometown celebration.



🥁 Cecil County Christmas Parade (North East, MD)

Saturday, Dec 6 | 12–2 PM | Downtown North East 


One of the largest regional holiday parades! Expect marching bands, classic cars, decorated floats, animals, and more. Local merchants also offer specials for parade-goers—come early or stay after to enjoy the town.



✨ Whitehall Grand Illumination (First Annual!)

Sunday, Dec 7 | 4–8:30 PM | Whitehall, Middletown 


A brand-new Middletown tradition! Enjoy the first-ever tree lighting, a synchronized neighborhood light show, Santa photos, performers, food trucks, kids’ activities, and a magical, festival-style evening.
